To actually use the product for which it was intended, like two small claims, will make you uninsurable. I know because I tried to get renters insurance for my new home and was denied because of my claims history ( two claims totalling less than $500). It would be better if they told you up front. Renters insurance is an absolute MUST for anyone who rents their living space. My brother, who is an avid cyclist, had a break-in and lost a very expensive bicycle, along with some other valuables, and the police had no leads and no way for him to retrieve his property. Fortunately, he had renter's insurance and it covered everything! It's remarkably inexpensive coverage, really, and a life saver in time of need.
