Why I finally switched over and got an apple laptop. And how you can get a free ipod nano with a laptop.

Buy a Mac and get a FREE iPod Nano!

I don’t know how unbiased I can be about going apple vs. going PC but I have to say that I made the switch to apple on December of 2006 and within the span of a few months, I feel as though I love a lot of things about apple. There are many reasons why you should get an apple computer if you are thinking about buying a new laptop. My journey to apple started in december when my laptop got stolen at the La Guardia Airport. It was probably one of the worse days of my life because I was stupid enough not to back up my computer so I lost a lot of stuff that I had in my computer. I write a lot of stuff on word that has to do with medicine and I had to recreate my medicine database.

So why should you switch to apple?

currently there is a promotion If you are a student, teacher, pretty much have an email address with an EDU attached to it to prove that you are in the academic world, you get an IPOD nano with your macbook. You also get another 100 dollars off your laptop and a 100 dollar rebate for a free printer.

the apple store is convenient for technical support I had issues with my laptop and I had a choice of calling the service number or going to my nearby apple store to get the problem fixed. It’s much better than having to ship your computer to a manufacturer and waiting weeks to get service.

the operating system is pretty intuitive I didn’t realize this until I switched over. I was up and running as soon as I opened my box. There are a lot of excellent programs such as iPHOTO and iCal and other multimedia stuff already included that I use on a regular basis.

the apple system is very compatible with PC I thought this would be an issue to but the mac OS has microsoft office so you can do a powerpoint on PC and use it on a mac or make a document on a mac and show it on a PC. You can also use all your peripherals on a mac as well. Your printer/ mouse/ monitor or anything else you can think of is compatible with a mac.

not much issue with security I haven’t had any issues with viruses or trojans since i’ve had my computer and I don’t have anything installed that tracks it.

price comparison wise, you get alot An equivalent PC computer costs the same if not more and with the discounts that you get, you usually come out ahead.

So if you are ready to switch to apple, now might be the perfect time to do it!

Amen and amen. I love my Macbook and it is far more reliable than my wife’s PC. I try not to talk about it too much because I don’t want to be annoying, but it really is the best machine I have used. Spring for the AppleCare insurance and you are covered in case the worst does happen, though.

I agree! I began with an Apple II when my dad brought it home from work. I moved to a pc when I worked in a medical lab; moved to a Mac when I worked in education, and back to a pc when I moved to research. I am now a Mac evangelist after working in a museum that was 50:50 and i saw how much trouble pc’s cause in comparison. I also life with a wife who has a pc and she glares at me every time I have to fix one of her problems, because she knows I am biting my tongue not to tell her to just buy a Mac. Soon the Google/Apple faction will make the Microsoft/et al. Faction irrelevant. MS will always be there and pc’s are fine, but they are not necessary.
